The painting "Squirrels" is drawn as landscape. But it is distinguished by its technique to secession creative period. It is stylistic for this work to have fine point dabs that relate it to pointillism. We must note that Zaretsky was perhaps the only outstanding Ukrainian master of pointillism.

Provenance: The work was bought at the artist's workshop in Koncha-Zaspa in the 90s of the XX century from Maia Zaretska, the second wife of the painter.
